I’m realizing it’s nearly been a year since the last post, but I’ve been doing a lot of living.
Maybe I should have more publicly documented the bee recordings – I did some updates on my instagram, some which still “live today” – others were just moments in stories. The rest will remain in hours of nature and free-jam tracks, pieces of inspiration caught on site (and apparently the Pollinators page of East 40 – I loved working with Danielle!)
I did keep somewhat of a journal, for my own reflection, and maybe I’ll share bits from it as I develop these songs and frequencies. I had some amazing collaborators join me as well, in flash writing sessions. I’ll be releasing this collection in January of 2027, thanks to the East 40 Community Gardens of NCCC.
Until then, you had to bee there.
Speaking of Being there – the main reason I wanted to update is that my dear friend and collaborator Erin Fox is releasing her 3rd solo album, Uprooting – available May 30th. The release party, supported by WXPN, is June 4th at Johnny Brenda’s Philadelphia. Starred as WXPN WELCOMES show!
She has graciously invited me to play harp on a couple songs. So, I’ve been playing harp recently. Because you know I can’t resist a musical invite, especially with some novelty. I just love the collective making of harmonious sounds, and am excited to have a reason to play. Thanks to my mom, who had a scholarship to college for her harp playing (graduating Summa Cum Laude), I have a decent grasp on technique, and maybe it’s a bit in the fingers already. But it’s still a newer instrument to me, so off I go to rehearse this song again.
